At LSST Elephant and Castle, we are celebrating the remarkable journeys of our students who have overcome challenges, pursued their passions, and achieved extraordinary success. From conquering academic hurdles to finding confidence and purpose, their stories exemplify the transformative power of education and mentorship. Through these narratives, we honour the resilience, determination, and accomplishments of our diverse student body, showcasing the profound impact of our supportive community.

Nana Patterson, Daphne Hylton-Morgan, and Irene Schwarzenacher who are studying Business Studies (accredited by the University of West London and delivered by LSST) share their feelings and guide us to explore the impact of LSST’s supportive community on their personal and professional growth.

‘During my time here, I met many lecturers who supported me and taught me many new things. All the lecturers understood me and stood by us, providing support with our attendance and assignments. They were incredibly helpful with our problems.

As a student, I went through many challenges. If I didn’t have my lecturers, I wouldn’t have been able to make it. They pushed me, and when I was about to drop out, they did their best to help me stay on track.

Their unwavering support and encouragement made all the difference. They believed in me even when I struggled to believe in myself. Because of them, I am graduating this year. I am profoundly grateful for their guidance and dedication. This success is as much theirs as it is mine.

Now, I have more confidence and believe more in myself as I embark on this new chapter of my life. I am eagerly looking forward to finding a job, and with the invaluable support and motivation from Foteini Meleti, I am actively searching. Her guidance has been instrumental in keeping me motivated and focused. Additionally, I am determined to pursue a master’s in human resources, furthering my education and career prospects.

A heartfelt thank you to all my lecturers for helping me reach this significant milestone. I couldn’t have done it without you!’

‘I would describe my journey at LSST as successful, and now I feel ready to take on the world because of the confidence the staff gave me.

When I joined, I had no confidence, but now I have greatly improved my public speaking. Thanks to my lecturers, I have become a critical thinker. All the lecturers were there to support me and help me achieve my dreams.

During my time here, I enjoyed all the events, and the most important one was the career fair. I met many employers who showed me various pathways to follow, and now I feel qualified to apply for jobs.  A special thanks to my lecturer, Bindu has been like a mother, a sister, and a family member throughout my journey here. I enjoyed many events, including those with Foxtons and the Mental Well-being Day with Southwark Talking Therapies. I found many useful things in the discussions they led. Now I am ready to gain more qualifications and start a career as a lecturer, hopefully becoming as good as my own lecturers.

The staff have been caring and supportive of our emotional well-being. We knew that they would fight for us!

Thank you, LSST, for empowering me and helping me achieve my dreams.’

‘I would describe LSST as the best place to be. As students here, LSST provided a lot of support during these four years. The staff encouraged and motivated us as a whole class to give our best. They were there for our assignments and tried to give us the best experience possible as students. All the events were very well organised and helpful for us. During the Career Fair, I had an interesting discussion with Barclays about my business and how they could support me.

I want to thank all my lecturers, Dr. Ying Liu, Joseph Tawiah, Olusola Leigh, Bindu Shaiju, and Zafar Iqbal, who were there to support me.

The main reason I started this degree was to one day run my own business and be successful in this field. Now, with my qualification in Business Studies, I am more than ready to enter the workforce, start my business, and implement my business plan.’
